COVID-19 Update: Nova Scotia Proof of Vaccination Policy

The government of Nova Scotia announced today that it will move forward with Phase 5 of its reopening plan on September 15. This phase will see the easing of restrictions, including:

• Mask-wearing will no longer be mandatory in indoor public spaces, but still strongly recommended
• Businesses and other organizations are allowed to implement their own mask policies
• Gathering limits and physical distancing requirements will be lifted

Further to this statement, it was also announced that a vaccination policy would be implemented.

Nova Scotia's Proof of Vaccine Policy

Starting October 4, people in Nova Scotia aged 12 and older will be required to provide proof of full vaccination for certain non-essential recreation and leisure services.

Businesses that will need to check proof of vaccination include:

• Restaurants
• Gyms and fitness facilities
• Movie theatres and cinemas
• Events such as theatre performances, concerts and sporting events

What can be used as proof of vaccination?

Nova Scotians are already able to access their proof of vaccination through the CANImmunize application. Businesses must review the application screen or the printed information that outlines their vaccination status.

The CANImmunize app will act as proof until the province can implement a digital option.
